A Resort Hotel or a Vacation Rental?

Choosing accommodations is a critical part of vacation planning. There are many types of places to choose from. The big decision is, do you go with a traditional resort hotel or a vacation home. Resorts Hotels are large, usually company owned while vacation homes are typically individually owned and can be houses, apartments or condos.

Vacation homes are growing in popularity and becoming a more mainstream alternative means of accommodating your holiday. A vacation home takes you away from a crowd and to an individual setting. You are renting a home, basically. Often times there are DVD Movies, Books, Games, Magazines and all the day to day stuff that ordinarily accompanies a home. You do not have to worry about noisy neighbors or being interrupted by service workers.

You have the freedom and ability to cook for yourself and even have a little private party. Vacation homes can be generally more affordable, particularly for families with children, multiple couples or groups of friends. When you compare with having to rent several rooms verses only one house, break the cost of the house down to a per-room basis or per person basis and a vacation home is almost always cheaper than accommodating the same number of people in a Hotel.

Vacation homes also do not have the staff expenses although some vacation homes will offer outside services such as cleaning, cooking, a driver, etc. A vacation home tends to be more spacious than you hotel rooms. You will generally have greater privacy. And also, vacation homes can be found almost anywhere you want to vacation and at prices within your budget. They are widely preferred for long term stays of one to several months, as they have a more home style feel to them.
