I want to protect against cancellation penalties -- how are refunds handled?
A If you want the most protection, travel insurance can protect your vacation investment if unforeseen circumstances require you to cancel your trip. Your rental agreement or lease should clearly communicate any penalties associated with canceling your contract under its cancellation policy, as well as the process of refunding any part of your payment. Note that cancellations due to weather conditions are not usually permitted unless specified in the rental agreement.
TopI want to arrive smoothly -- how do I get help with travel arrangements?
A The vacation rental owner will be able to advise you on the most convenient airports, car rentals, and alternative transportation options. If the property requires parking passes or has special parking requirements this should be detailed in the rental agreement and included in pre-arrival instructions.
TopIf there is a problem while Im there I want to resolve it -- what should I do?
A Contact information for the owner or their local representative should be provided in your pre-arrival instructions and also posted in the rental property. It is always in your best interest as well as in the owners interest to fix any problems as soon as they might occur. Again, the person you have been directed to contact in case something goes wrong will be your best resource to promptly resolve any issues you might have.
TopI want to know what to expect when I leave -- is there a check-out process?
A The instructions you receive should also include the check-out policies. Obviously, you should know to what extent the owner expects you to clean up prior to departure. You should certainly leave the vacation rental tidy because it may be booked immediately afterwards. At the end of your stay, the owners or their representative should schedule your check-out of the property. At that time they will refund your security deposit if there is no damage, or arrange for a refund within a couple of weeks.
TopHow does the experience differ from renting a hotel or motel room?
A A privately owned home or condo is more spacious and more private than a hotel or motel room. You will have the entire home, including a fully equipped kitchen and often more than one bath, at your disposal. You will not have room service. In comparing the costs, you will likely find that the cost per bedroom to rent a vacation home is significantly less than the same number of hotel or motel rooms.
TopWhat do I need to bring with me?
A You need only arrive with your clothes and any specialty food and beverage items that may not be found in the small, local Vons store. All of our vacation homes are supplied with bed and bath linens, however please bring your own beach towels for use at the pool (condo complexes) or at the beach. We also provide a start-up supply of products such as toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher detergent, and dish detergent, however you may need to purchase additional amounts during longer stays. Each bathroom is supplied with soap and conditioning shampoo.
TopHow far in advance can I make a reservation?
A Reservations may be placed up to one year in advance. After your first stay with us, you may reserve the same property for the next year within seven (7) days of your departure. If we do not hear from you within those seven days, the property will become available for someone else to rent. If you do reserve a property and that property later becomes unavailable due to circumstances beyond our control, we will immediately notify you and attempt to make an alternative reservation. Because these are privately owned homes, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to stay in the reserved property, however we will do everything possible to honor your request!
