Handy Hints For A Problem Free Family Vacation |

We wait all year for the great family getaway only for it to turn into a complete disaster! Follow these tips to ensure your vacation is enjoyable for all.
Protection from the Sun
We all know that you don’t having to be lying on the beach or by the pool to get sunburnt; so if you and your family are going to be outside at theme parks take along sufficient sun protection with an SPF 30 or higher. Apply frequently and don’t forget ears and noses.
Take it Easy
You may be on holiday for a short period so it may be tempting to jam as much as possible into your trip. It is important to schedule some relaxation time into your trip; otherwise the kids can feel overwhelmed. Some downtime will leave the family refreshed and raring to go for the next activity.
Healthy Eating
Being on vacation isn’t an excuse to avoid healthy eating. It is important that the kids eat well-balanced meals and snacks, including fruit and vegetables; this will eliminate irritable and hyperactive children.
Be Comfortable
If your trip includes lots of walking, forget those sexy summer sandals and opt for a well fitting trainer with cotton socks which will absorb perspiration and provide protection against blisters.
Preparation is Key
No one wants to be ill on vacation but anything can happen. Take along a First Aid kit that includes band aids, bandages, anti-bacterial wipes, sting ointment, fever reducer, thermometer and a doctor’s phone number. Since the kids will be open to new environments and foods you should also include an antihistamine, such as Benadryl, to treat those unanticipated allergic reactions.
Schedule
With all the excitement of being on vacation the kids will no doubt want to stay awake a little longer. However, try and keep sleeping times as closely as possible to your normal home life. You never know, the added activity and fresh air may increase the need for some shut-eye!
Enjoy your trip! |
