Filled with palm fringed beaches, green landscapes and ancient architecture, the small country of Sri Lanka is popular with visitors.
The vibrant commercial capital of Colombo, though busy and hectic at times, it has many colourful sights. The Fort area, home to the World Trade Center is the business centre of the country and has many modern buildings. There are many museums, parks, churches and temples in Colombo that are worth visiting.
Anuradhapura is full of history to explore, with some of the oldest buildings in Sri Lanka that are still in excellent shape. Just short distances from Anuradhapura are several historic Buddhist structures which are worth a visit.
On the western coast of Colombo, is the beach resort of Negombo, beautiful beaches with spectacular sunsets and gorgeous Sri Lankan food, Negombo is the perfect place to relax.
Sri Lanka has a tropical climate with average temperatures around 28 to 30 °C. The highest temperatures are from March to June and the coolest temperatures are from November to January. There is monsoon rain from May to August in the southern, western and central regions of Colombo, and from October to January in the north and east regions.
