Saint Kitts and Nevis
Saint Kitts and Nevis islands, which are separated at their closest point by a two-mile-wide channel, when joined together form the smallest nation in the western hemisphere. Both filled with fine examples of colonial architecture, plantation inns, and ramshackle sugar mills, and opportunities for excellent diving, snorkelling, hiking and horse riding, theres something for everyone to enjoy.
Saint Kitts is the hillier, volcanic of the two islands, mostly untouched by tourism infrastructure. The lively Frigate Bay area, the area most touched by tourism, has many hotels, beaches, and even a casino to keep visitors entertained. Saint Kitts capital of Basseterre, provides a pleasureful mix of architectural delights with many of the 18th century town history preserved extremely well, the best sights located around Independence Square.
Nevis though tiny is by no means lacking in beauty, filled with sugarcane, windmills and beautiful countryside providing interesting sight-seeing opportunities. Home to many high standard history museums, is Nevis relaxing capital, Charlestown. Outside the capital, you can try horse-riding, visit the dive sites, relax on the white sandy beach or for the more adventurous, try a hike up Mount Nevis.
Both islands offer the choice of extravagant dining or inexpensive dining, fresh seafood is the most popular meal, where you can try spiny lobster or flying fish. Carib is the local beer though St Kitts also brews Guinness.
With daily temperatures averaging 27ºC on both islands, and with no rain season, Saint Kitts and Nevis are ideal tropical destinations all year round.
