Peru
Peru has something for everyone, whether its Arequipa with its great mountains and the El Misti Volcano; Machu Picchu with its lost Inca city; or Lima with its top-class museums, eye-catching architecture, vibrant nightlife and music scene.
Peru is a cheap place to visit, a good meal in most places can be found for under US$3 and transport is very reasonable too. General transport is by bus, taxi, though can try a train journey which run frequently and different lines have different spectacular sights around Peru.
Spanish is the main language spoken; there are a wide number of speakers of Quechua and other native languages.
Peru is dry all year round and temperatures tend to be warmest during the summer months (January to March) with days in the high 20°Cs and nights just below 20°C. It is not cold in the winter and will have a frequent low cloud.
