Negril gives watersports fans a special treat with many operators offering plenty of action, and for the holidaymakers wanting to relax; Negril has a laidback atmosphere, a white sandy beach with clear waters and spectacular sunsets.

The Jamaican diet is extremely varied; meals can vary from jerk meat, rice and peas to seafood dishes. Due to their preference for natural cooking it is quite easy for vegetarians to find suitable food. There is a wide choice of beer; the national beer is the excellent Red Stripe though Heineken is widely available in most places. For a tasty non-alcoholic drink, theres the local bottled spring water or coconut, or you can try Jamaicas own Ting which is a refreshing grapefruit drink.

During the peak season, mid-December to mid-April, Jamaicas tropical climate is at its most appealing, rainfall is at its lowest and it is cool with trade winds. During the summer months, especially in September and October, it does get a lot hotter, average temperature is around 30°C in the day and 20°C in the night.
