Djangos Castle sits high looking to the sea in the South and across the farms of the Portelas valley to the northern hills of Monchique. Yet this rural setting is only 1 mile from the centre of Lagos, the last unspoilt town in the western Algarve with its uncrowded beaches and famous fresh fish restaurants. The house has a layout which is ideal for family groups. The panoramic view from the roof sun terrace is stunning. Children are very welcome.

ACCOMMODATION :

MAIN FLOOR:

Sitting room :
Spacious sitting room with panoramic views, a dining area and doors onto the main terrace. It is usual for all meals to be served on the pool level terrace which has a sun awning and beautiful views. The kitchen is adjacent to the terrace and makes this option easy.

Main kitchen :
Compact and easy to work with a fridge freezer, cooker, dishwasher, microwave, electric toaster, kettle and all crockery, glassware and utensils.

Laundry :
A separate laundry with an automatic washing machine, sink drainer, iron. Sliding door access to the drying carousel in the rear garden.
Guest toilet accessed from the laundry with a hand basin.

Master bedroom :
With a double bed, optional air conditioning, en suite bathroom with corner bath, shower, toilet and bidet. Sliding patio doors onto terrace and sea views. Large wardrobes and drawers.

Bedroom 2 :
With twin beds, optional air conditioning, en suite shower room with toilet and bidet. Sliding doors to terrace and rear garden with country views. Large wardrobes and drawers.

APARTMENT :

A stair from the main floor sitting room leads down to the ground floor apartment.

The large sitting room with optional air conditioning has views to the sea and the Monchique hills. The sofa can be used as an optional double bed. The independent main door leads to a small private terrace which benefits from the morning sun.

Kitchenette :
With a fridge freezer, hob, microwave, electric toaster, kettle and all crockery, glassware and utensils and a table and chairs.

Double bedroom :
A lovely room with a double bed and views to Monchique. Plenty of storage in the wardobe and drawer unit.

Bedroom 2 and 3 :
Lovely rooms each with a single bed and views to Monchique. Plenty of storage in the wardrobes and drawer units.

Bathroom :
Large shower room with toilet and hand basin.

THE POOL ROOM :

The 30m2 pool room Is on the main house level and is separated from the house by a covered terrace with traditional tile features.

Twin beds :
Lie in bed with sea views; with optional air conditioning.

Kitchenette :
With a fridge, toaster, hob, kettle and a table and chairs.

Bathroom :
Large en suite shower, toilet and hand basin.


OUTSIDE :
The pool (9m x 4m) is heated (free) and is on the main floor level and has a safe shallow area for kids and a childrens slide. The house is split level with terraces on the main level, including a sun shaded terrace area, and a rear garden. The rear garden has a childrens swing, climbing frame, crawler tube and sand pit with sand toys. On ground floor level is an old well and sitting area. There is a roof sun terrace with panoramic views and sun beds. The barbecue is at the end of the pool. There is plenty of car parking space.

PRICE NOTES :
Prices quoted are for 10 people. Air conditioning 25 GBPounds/35 Euros per room extra per week. All bookings start on Saturday and we ask for a 100 GBPounds/150 Euros refundable deposit for keys. Pool heating is by means of solar panels and is without charge but weather dependant.


WINTER PRICES :
(November - March): For a minimum of four days prospective guests can choose a programme by making contact with the owners and giving their requirements for either the villa, the apartment or both.

WINTER LETS :
The main house, heats easily with the fan assisted wood fire, reverse cycle airconditioning and bathroom heaters. The apartment and the pool room also heat easily with reverse cycle airconditioning and heaters in the bathrooms.

CHANGEOVER DAY :
Saturday during the summer. The villa is available from 2.30pm on the day of arrival to 10am on the day of departure to allow a thorough cleaning between lets. Any agreed day during the winter.


DISTANCES :
Three beaches within 2km. Town is 1.5km.

CAR HIRE :
Strongly recommended. The views are good because the villa sits on a hill.

AIRPORT :
49miles (78Km), a little over an hour to Faro and less when the new motorway opens this year.

PETS :
Not permitted

MANAGEMENT :
The owners live nearby and are on hand to meet you and give you as much or as little assistance as you need to enjoy your holiday and the local area. Towels and linen are changed on Saturdays.

FURTHER DETAILS :

Djangos Castle is a comfortable house built to the most modern standards. Fully insulated and double glazed, it is cool in summer and dry and warm in winter. The south easterly aspect assures a spectacular sun rise. The house has digital English satellite TV, a CD player, Internet facilities, personal safe and two hair dryers. There is a small library of paperback books, childrens books, childrens toys, cots, highchairs, baby bath and pushchairs and a backpack for carrying a baby/infant.

Lagos is a perfect centre for a family holiday. The local beaches range from the cosy Praia Dana to the 4km emptiness of Meia Praia with its family run cafes. The town lies on the river with its wide palm lined promenade, castle, fishing harbour and marina compex. Great effort has been made to preserve the character of this ancient town with its narrow streets and many sidewalk restaurants serving fish from the famous market. Discos and live music bars provide plenty of life but they are discreet leaving the centre to the artists and street vendors. Portugal is famous for its child friendliness. Your children are welcome everywhere at any time and the streets and beaches are safe.

Shopping ranges from large supermarkets (food and wine are cheap) to the gypsy market and the summer fairs where local handicrafts are available at bargain prices. Childrens clothes and shoes especially are good and cheap. Stock up.

A visit to Cape St Vincent for the sunset after a day on Sagres beach is a must. The artists village of Monchique with its old spa village is close by; Silves and its dramatic moorish castle, cork museum and daily summer show; Odiaxere horse fair ; the empty west coast beaches - all worth a visit. For more action there are four golf courses, boat trips, wind surfing, tennis, horse riding, two slide and splash centres and flying, either micro lights or aerobatic. The area has plenty to offer apart from just lying in the sun and doing nothing at all.........
