| Property Description: This property is located at 23 rue de la Gravee 85200 Saint Michel le Cloucq France, and has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The average rate for renting this property is $625.00 per week. Our gite, very comfortable for 6 persons 4 adults- 2 children, is located in the peaceful setting of a small south Vendee hamlet. The ideal base for exploring and enjoying the Vendee Region. It is a rustic cottage fully restored to its original appearance, with exposed stone walls, wooden beams and wooden floors, and tiled ground floor. It is furnished with antique French country style comfortable furniture. It is comfortable and done with good taste. Ground floor: a large living room with a fireplace, good size kitchen dining/room, bathroom and separate wc, utility room. One double bedroom with en suite shower room bed 1.60mt wide, tv and video/recorder/player. Upstairs : a double bedroom with one 1.40 mt wide bed, one mezzanine bedroom with 2 single beds each 1.20mt wide. Facilities included : Chimney, 2 TV, 2 video recorder/player, hifi, telephone, games, books and video cassettes. Fully fitted modern kitchen, diswasher, microwaves oven ,full oven, washing machine and deep freezer. All rooms have electric heating. To enhance comfort for a restful and enjoyabkle stay there is : - a 500 square meters private garden, - a stone patio with garden furniture, - a large outdoor roofed dining area with rustic furniture and a purpose built chimney-barbecue, - private parking. 2 mountain bicycles for adults and 3 for children are available free of charge. Bathroom towels, house linen, and bed linen is provided, the beds are made prior to arrival. Situated in the quiet village of Saint Michel le Cloucq, 5 kms from the old capital of Fontenay le Comte, 30 kms from Niort and 50 Kms from La Rochelle and the beaches of the Atlantic and the islands of R and Aix. The village is on the edge of a large forest and there are lots of places to walk and cycles. Less than 5 kms from the house is the River Vende wher you can fish and there is good fishing and boating on the canals of Le Marais Poitevin , better known as Green Venice. Lac de Chassenon has a beach with supervised swimming, it is great for the young children. The Vendee apart from its beauty is filled with historic and fine architecture, notably the Abbaye of Maillezais or the Abbaye Royale in Nieul. Within an hours drive of our cottage are the sandy beaches of the Vende, including La Rochelle, Ile de R, Les Sables dOlonne and La Tranche sur Mer. If you want a change of pace then the tranquil setting of the Marais Poitevin, with its Venise Verte waterways are just 20 minutes away. For kids of all ages the Futuroscope theme park is an hour away near Poitiers, and for the adults the famous Cognac houses are within easy reach for tours and tastings. The history adventure park at Puy du Fou opens a fantastic new attraction on 2006. La Rochelle airport is 55 minute drive, Nantes is 1 hour 15 minutes, Poitiers is 1 hour drive, all served by airlines with cheap fares. Port of St Malo is 3 hour drive, Caen is approx 4 and a quarter hours, Le Havre is 4 and a half hour drive.
